Medical & Psychiatric Assessment

The doctors who work in The HSE National Drug Treatment Centre come from a diversity of medical backgrounds which means our service users benefit from an eclectic knowledge base within the multidisciplinary team.

We comprise of psychiatrists and general practitioner trainees who are gaining valuable experience within the field of Addiction.

We provide a primary care service to our clients, assess the extent of their drug addiction, instigate the treatment of same and subsequently monitor and evaluate their progress.

Because the HSE National Drug Treatment Centre provides recognised training posts for psychiatrists and general practitioners, it is a centre of excellence for progressive training and research within the field of Addictions. Medical and Psychiatric problems are thus dealt with on - site and if deemed necessary will be referred to a tertiary service.

We are also consulted by management and take a pivitol role in the instigation of policy making and decisions in the best interest of the service users.
